A production platform, not a generation tool
Why AI filmmaking tools fail serious creators — and why Reverie is building the full workflow, not just the flashy generation bit.
I've been thinking about why most AI filmmaking tools fail serious creators.
They optimise for the demo. Generate something impressive from a single prompt. Show it in a tweet. Get engagement.
But the people who actually want to make films — indie directors, musicians, animators — they don't need a impressive demo. They need a workflow.
Here's the gap: generation is the easy part. The hard part is everything around it.
→ How do you plan a story before you generate a single frame? → How do you keep your characters consistent across 20 scenes? → How do you position your score against your visuals? → How do you iterate on a scene without losing the rest of your project?
These are production problems. They've always been the problems filmmakers solve. AI doesn't remove them — it just changes what the solutions look like.
This is what we're building at Reverie. Not a generation tool. A production platform.
Scene Planner. Beat Sheet. Reference Clips. Timeline. Audio. Export.
The whole workflow, not just the flashy bit in the middle.
If you're building tools for creative professionals — optimise for the workflow, not the demo. That's where the real work happens.
